Arriving at 3675 Hendricks feels nothing like checking into a clinic. It’s a private, unhurried setting in San Marco, where you’re welcomed by name and your time is never rushed.
Every patient has Dr. Henley’s personal cell number. After a procedure, we call to see how you’re feeling. For sedation appointments, we arrange a chauffeured car to and from the office. Dr. Henley has seen patients in their own homes, and our hygienists have cared for patients at their nursing homes.

Common questions
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. A first visit here is about two hours. You spend about an hour with Dr. Henley going over your health history, your X-rays and what you want to change, then about an hour with a hygienist. You can book online, call 904-398-1549, or text the office.
Do you take my dental insurance?
We're out of network with every dental plan. If you have a PPO with out-of-network benefits, your plan may still pay part of the cost. HMO and DHMO plans usually won't. Either way, you get a written fee for each step before any treatment starts, so you can check with your plan first.
Can I be seen today for a dental emergency?
Usually, yes. We see same-day emergencies during office hours, including new patients. Call first, and call early, especially on Fridays. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling near your eye or down your neck, go to the ER first.
I'm nervous about the dentist. Can you help?
Yes, and you won't get a lecture about how long it's been. We explain each step before we do it, and you can stop us any time. If you want more help, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and, for adults, oral sedation.
Do you see children?
Yes. We see children, teens and adults, so a whole family can come to one office. Children's visits focus on prevention and on making the dentist a good experience. When a child would be better served by a pediatric dentist, we'll tell you and refer you to one.
How much do dental implants cost, and how long does it take?
There isn't one price. The total depends on whether you need an extraction or bone graft, the temporary tooth, and the final crown, bridge or denture. Bone usually needs several months to heal around an implant before the final tooth goes on. Dr. Henley places many implants himself, here in San Marco, and you get an itemized written estimate before anything starts.

Dr. Henley’s hospital-based dental experience at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, along with work with oncology teams inform his approach to medically involved care. We consider your health history, treatment needs, and oral concerns, coordinating with physicians and oncology teams when appropriate.
Our role includes dental evaluation, care for treatment-related oral concerns, and continuing dental follow-up alongside your medical treatment.

Is it a dental emergency?
Is a knocked-out tooth an emergency?
Yes. Minutes matter. Pick the tooth up by the top, not the root. If it's dirty, rinse it briefly, then push it back into the socket or keep it in milk, and bite on a clean cloth. Call us right away. A tooth put back within about 15 minutes has the best chance of staying. We'll check its position, steady it, and plan any follow-up care.
My child knocked out a baby tooth. What should I do?
Don't put a baby tooth back in. That can harm the adult tooth growing underneath. Press a damp cloth on the gum to stop the bleeding and call us the same day. If your child hit their head and passed out, vomited, or seems confused or unusually sleepy, get medical care first.
Is a toothache an emergency?
It depends on what's causing it, so call us. Until you're seen, rinse with warm water, floss gently around the tooth, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as the label directs. Don't put aspirin on the tooth or gum. We'll find the cause and talk through your options.
Is a broken, chipped or cracked tooth an emergency?
A broken or cracked tooth should be seen soon, even if it doesn't hurt. Save any pieces in milk, hold a cold compress on your cheek, and cover sharp edges with dental wax. A small chip may only need smoothing or bonding. A deeper crack may need a crown or other treatment.
My crown, veneer or filling came off. What should I do?
Keep it in a bag and bring it with you. Don't use super glue or household glue. If a crown seats all the way, denture adhesive can hold it until your visit. We can often put it back. If not, we'll replace it.
Is facial swelling an emergency?
It can be. Swelling near your eye, down your neck, or with a fever means going to the ER first. Swelling that makes it hard to breathe, speak or swallow means calling 911. For milder swelling, use a cold compress, not heat, and call us. An infection needs to be treated at its source.
Is a loose adult tooth an emergency?
Yes, call us right away. Don't force it or wiggle it. Bite gently on a damp cloth to hold it in place until you're seen.
My gum or lip is bleeding. When should I worry?
Press clean, damp gauze on the spot for 15 to 20 minutes. If it keeps bleeding after that, go to the ER. If it stops, call us so we can take a look.
My denture broke. What should I do?
Bring all the pieces and don't glue it yourself. Home repairs can change the fit and make the denture harder to fix. We'll repair it or start a replacement.
